Sailing the MiniCat 420

In 2013 we became Benelux distributor for the MiniCat catamarans. It is a catamaran that we can bring along with us in the Cirrus aircraft or in the car and that inflates and is ready to sail in about an hour. To figure out how to sail the MiniCats, I went to the sailing school “De Eilander” van Jeroen on the island Texel. There I learned how to sail catamarans.

We store the MiniCat 420 on the shore of the waterspouts and sailing club WSV Giesbeek, Now the MiniCat is ready to sail in about 10 minutes.

Lately we have been adding a small electrical motor to the MiniCat 420. With it we can easily go out through the sailing club harbor to the lake, even if the wind direction is not great for doing it under sail. Once we sail, we just pull up the engine out of the water and set course!

So we also have a short video showing you have we use the electrical outboard engine to get us through the harbor to and from the lake.

We enjoy sailing the MiniCat quite a lot as it is simple, easy to bring along and it brings lots of fun for all. In June I participated in the largest catamaran race in the world “Round of Texel” with the MiniCat and in October I will be sailing the MiniCat from France to the UK over the North Sea and back.

Here are a few pictures of us sailing and enjoying the MiniCat.
